Park Ji-Hyuk
Abstract
Objective : This study aims to analyze the characteristics of social health measurement domains, components, and assessments used for measuring the social health of older adults.

Methods : A systematic literature review was performed. The database of PubMed, Web of Science and National Discovery for Science Leaders was used to extract data from 2012 to 2022. The assessment was analyzed based on the commonly used assessments, evaluation domain, reliability, validity, and implementation method of the social health assessment.

Results : A total of nine assessments were extracted from the selected literature. The most commonly used social health assessments were Lubben Social Network Scale and Social Health Scale for Elderly (SHSE), showing five and four times of use, respectively. SHSE was the only assessment tool that included both personal and social aspects of social health
characteristics.

Conclusion : In this study, it was confirmed that SHSE was the most actively used assessment tool for measuring social health. Through the analysis, it was found that social characteristics were emphasized in recent social health studies. The results of this study suggest that both social and personal characteristics should be considered in future health promotion studies.
